We recognize that civil disobedience is undertaken with knowledge that there are consequences for such actions. Yet, we as a university have choices about how to respond. We urge the administration to respond in a manner that maximizes freedom of expression and freedom to dissent. To that end, we:
- Urge the university to rescind the suspensions of students who are peacefully encamping in University Yard, enabling them to complete their semesters and remain in their housing.
- Urge against further requests for MPD to come onto our campus and for MPD or GWPD to arrest students.
- Advise the administration to meet with the students to hear their demands directly and in-person.
